从3月7日，参与网就不断受到DDoS攻击，持续时间有时超过24小时。攻击者甚至改变了管理员登录密码，致使管理员无法登录。
3月15日，蔡楚的手机和家庭座机受到攻击。从3月15日凌晨05点35分开始蔡楚的手机每30秒收到一次“无来电显示”呼叫，整整持续了一整天直到下午6：35被迫关机。每个呼叫只有两声即停，30秒后又开始。接起电话只听到蜂鸣声。只有把手机设为飞行模式才能临时停止呼叫。
由于3月15日从凌晨到下午家里无人，不知座机的情况。当天下午6:15蔡楚回到家中，发现家里的电话同手机一样受到攻击：每30秒响两声。电话运营商告知，可以通过按某些键阻止最后一次通话，蔡楚连阻止3次。然而，电话铃声仍然不断。显然，电话可能都是由电脑产生不同的号码拨出的。最后只有关机才能停止所有的来电。
3月16日晚上开机后，电话铃声又持续不断。只好再次关机停止所有来电。
On march 4, 2016 (Beijing time), Canyu.org (a pro-democracy and human rights for China website) published an open letter authored by a “loyal communist party member” requesting the Chinese President Xi Jinping to step own http://canyu.org/n110479c6.aspx. On March 8 (also Beijing time), Canyu.org Editor-in-Chief Cai Chu had an interview with Voice of America http://www.voachinese.com/content/voa-news-cai-chu-interview-20160307/3223306.html to discuss about the open letter which requesting President Xi Jinping to step down. Starting March 7, Canyu.org has been attacked by DDoS and it became inaccessible several times, sometimes it lasted more than 24 hours. The attacker even changed the Admin login of the website, but it was fixed by the website technician. On March 15, starting at 5:35 AM, Cai Chu’s mobile phone was attacked. He received “No Caller ID” calls every 30 seconds. Every call had two rings and stopped. It started again in every 30 seconds. Only beeps can be heard from the other side. The only way to stop it temporally was turning the phone to airplane mode. As no one was at home from early morning to 6:15 pm on March 15, Cai Chu did not know the home phone situation until 6:15. The home phone had the same ringing every 30 seconds with two rings. Cai Chu’s home phone carrier told him that he could stop the last call by pressing certain buttons and he tried to stop it for 3 times. However, the calls kept on coming in. Obviously the calls were from different numbers maybe generated by a computer. The only way to stop it is to unplug the phone. On March 16 night, when Cai Chu plugged the phone back, the calls started coming in again. So he had to unplug the phone again.
